PILKS' PROGRAMME NOTES

Posted on: Tue 13 Apr 2010

Tonight gives us the perfect opportunity to bounce back to winning ways after Saturday's frustrating 1-1 draw at Tamworth.

We knew it was going to be a tough match and that's how it turned out as we had to settle for a point in a game that was played on a tricky pitch.

It might have looked better than some of the pitches we have played on in recent weeks but I can assure you it was incredibly difficult. It was hard underfoot and the slope took a lot of getting used to.

We went in front against the run of play but were disappointed that having taken the lead we couldn't push on and go on and collect all three points.

Stevenage and Oxford have also found it tough going there this season which goes to show that come the end of the campaign it could be classed as a good point gained.

Obviously results elsewhere meant that our aim of automatic promotion took a slight knock but we have been of the opinion of not worrying about other teams and focusing on what we are capable of.

Our form has been nothing short of superb and to win nine and draw two of our last 11 games and win at the league leaders goes to show how good we've been over the past month.

At Kenilworth Road in particular we have been in top, top form, scoring goals for fun and keeping it tight at the back.

From a defender's point of view there's nothing better than keeping a clean sheet whilst watching the attackers hitting the net at the other end.

That showed in our last match here against Grays when we maintained our purple patch in front of goal with six goals with three from Kevin Gallen, two from Tom Craddock and one from Liam Hatch.

We have threats all over the pitch and it must be disheartening for the opposition to see a substitutes' bench like ours.

The whole squad are enjoying the confidence that a winning run brings and that seems to have spread right the way down to the reserves.

Competition for places is fierce which gives the manager plenty of options to choose from. Every game has its different challenges and it seems we have the necessary squad to overcome whatever tests are thrown at us.

Histon will no doubt pose a different kind of threat this evening but confidence in the camp remains high and the lads are raring to go again tonight.

Get behind us like you have been doing so brilliantly and enjoy the game.

Pilks.
