Welcome back again to Kenilworth Road for the second time in as many days.

It was disappointing that the Forest Green match was postponed due to the cold weather as we wanted to bounce back from the disappointment of losing to Cambridge in our previous game.

These notes were written and printed before the Histon game so I can't report on how we faired but hopefully we achieved a positive Boxing Day result that we can follow-up with today.

Games at this time of year are always vitally important so we need to make sure that we come through this period with as many points as possible as we look to cement a place in the top five of the division.

If we picked up victory against Histon another three this afternoon would be best Christmas present we could wish for.

Any team with aspirations of promotion should be winning their home games and that is something we have spoken about improving.

You look at teams above us in the table and see that their record in front of their own supporters are very good.

Before the Boxing Day games Oxford had only dropped two points all season while Stevenage and York are both yet to taste defeat.

If we can go on an unbeaten sequence at Kenilworth Road between now and the end of the season and continue our superb away form, then the second half of this campaign has the potential to be very exciting indeed.

We need to make this place a fortress again. No team should relish coming to face us here even if we are the team everyone wants to beat in the division.

It's certainly been a mixed 2009 for us following the highs of winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and the lows of being relegated from the Football League.

Obviously it goes without saying that three points would be the ideal tonic to see out the year on a high this afternoon but here's hoping that 2010 can bring the success we crave.

We had a taste of that sense of accomplishment and euphoria last April at Wembley and rest assured all the players and all the coaching staff are working hard to make sure we bring the good times back to this club.

On behalf of all the lads in the dressing room may I take this opportunity to wish you a prosperous and safe New Year.

Enjoy the game.

Nico.
