ED ECSTATIC AT CONTRACT EXTENSION
Despite having to endure sweltering conditions on his return to pre-season training, Hatters defender Ed Asafu-Adjaye is a happy man.
Not only has he just signed a contract extension to keep him at Kenilworth Road until 2011, but he has been handed the "dream" number two shirt by manager Mick Harford.
"To sign a new contract feels good," said the 20-year-old after taking time out after his first training session of the summer.
"To have a contract extended with a season left to run is great and I'm really, really pleased.
"And to be handed the number two shirt is even better. It was always a dream for me to wear number two and now it's up to me to keep that place and earn the shirt.
"I'm committed to Luton Town and, obviously with the gaffer and board bring in some good players this summer, I think we've got a chance of going back up this season."
The young defender has yet to score a goal in Town colours, but although he jokingly admits that is one target for the season, Ed is concentrating on keeping his place in the team and helping the Hatters back to the Football League.
"My aim is to stay fit, play well and to win games," he said. "If I can score one it would be nice!
"As far as the team is concerned we had a meeting this morning and we know what targets we have and Mick has outlined that it won't be easy as walking through the league but he said he will give us support, rest and time to get us ready."
