HATCH KEEN TO HELP AT BOTH ENDS
Liam Hatch has vowed to do all he can to help the Hatters back into the Football League at the first time of asking.
The Town's new loan signing arrives at Kenilworth Road on a season-long deal from Peterborough United with a target of not just scoring goals but setting them up and keeping them out at the other end too!
With his reputation of an old-fashioned centre-forward in the Mick Harford mould, Hatch hopes to replicate the form that alerted the attention of his new manager and that secured him a Conference winners' medal with Barnet back in 2005.
"My target is 15 goals," the 27-year-old exclusively told lutontown.co.uk.
"It's something I always aim for and set myself but I've been unlucky not to reach that recently because of injuries.
"When I was at Barnet my strike partner landed up winning the golden boot [Giuliano Grazioli with 29 goals].
"He said it was down to me that he scored so many goals with all my flick-ons so I hope I can do the same again here: score a few and set the rest up!
"And at every club I've been at I've been called back for corners for my ability to defend set pieces."
Living in Bedford and with his family supporters of the club, Hatch thinks his loan switch to the Hatters was a no-brainer, especially given the number of familiar faces he'll recognise in the Hatters' dressing room next season.
"I'm looking forward to it a lot," he said. "It was a massive decision for me to come here but a simple one.
"Mick has signed some really good players and a number of them I already know from Peterborough.
"Mark Tyler and Adam Newton are great players and I know Alan White from my time on-loan at Darlington.
"I'm looking forward to working with them and learning from Mick and I hope that I can do my bit to get my local team back playing league football again."
