TYLER: I'VE COME HERE FOR PROMOTION
Goalkeeper Mark Tyler is glad to have finally completely his move to Kenilworth Road.
The former Peterborough United stopper's arrival has been one of the worst kept secrets in football following his release from Posh last week with intense speculation in the press.
But after penning a two-year contract with the club on Wednesday the 32-year-old stated his desire to help the Hatters back into League football.
"This is a big club that shouldn't be playing in the Conference," Tyler exclusively told lutontown.co.uk.
"What went on last season is in the past and I'm looking forward to getting Luton back into the Football League at the first attempt.
"With the quality Mick has got in the dressing room already I'm sure that we won't be in that league for long.
"I've come here to get promotion this season and next."
With almost 500 career appearances to his name the 32-year-old has a wealth of experience and is keen to pass that on to his team-mates next season.
He said: "There are a lot of young lads in the team but Mick has been adding players with experience, like myself, so it will bode well for next season: a mix of youth and experience.
"And although I'm 32 I feel I'm still relatively quite young for a 'keeper and I've still got a lot to offer."
With former Peterborough players popping up at Kenilworth Road this summer following the arrival of Adam Newton and Liam Hatch and with Claude Gnakpa already with the club, the stopper admits he will have no problem settling into life at Luton.
"It definitely helps," he said. "Adam is a top player and it is great he's here.
"He's a great acquisition for us and Liam has always been a right pain in the backside for any opposition."
After such sterling service for Posh it was always going to be difficult for the Norwich-born man to leave London Road, but after being frozen out of the Darren Ferguson's side, Tyler believes it was the right decision to look elsewhere for regular first team football.
"I've come here to be the number one," he said. "The last two years have been hard for me at Peterborough because the new manager came in and they signed a new goalkeeper.
"Of course it was going to be strange leaving after all those years but I believe I'm at the right club and I can't wait for the season to start.
"We start back on 1st July and I'm looking forward to helping this club back where it belongs."
