GALLEN GLAD TO SECURE FUTURE
After signing a new one-year contract striker Kevin Gallen was delighted to secure his future with the Hatters for another season.
And the 33-year-old Londoner admitted there was only one answer when Mick Harford asked him to stay at the end of the last campaign.
"I'm really happy to have sorted it all out and secure my future for another year," he said.
"I pretty much knew at the end of the season when I was asked to stay that I would.
"I tried to make Mick sweat a bit but I don't think he did! It's good I don't have to worry about getting fixed up over the summer and I'm ready for the start of next season."
With the manager looking to add to the squad over the summer, Gallen is confident the team can bounce back to the Football League at the first attempt.
"I think we've got a great chance," he said. "The players we've got already and the players Mick is looking to add would suggest that.
"It's always nice to play in a winning team no matter what division you're in. That's the aim: to get winning, get big crowds and a good atmosphere at Kenilworth Road."
With Gallen a keen admirer of playing football the right way, he hopes the Hatters can pass their way to success next season.
He said: "Exeter won two promotions passing it and Torquay [who won promotion through the play-offs] are a good passing team.
"If you keep the ball and move it well you create chances and that's how you win games and win league titles; it's the same in every league."
With his future secured, the striker is looking forward to working hard in pre-season to force his way into Mick Harford's starting 11 - no matter where he's positioned on the pitch.
"Whether I'm played up front, in midfield or in behind the strikers, I'll do my best - that's the most important thing," he said.
"I've got to get on the pitch first and earn the right to be playing in that starting 11 every Saturday.
"My main aim is to start pre-season, work hard and get as fit as possible and get in the team."
