What are Luton Town Soccer Development Centres?
Soccer Centres are the entry level into our Talent Identification Programme (TIPS). They are held at four venues throughout Beds and North Herts and are open to:
* Ambitious players wishing to progress towards becoming a pro footballer.
* Established club players wishing to improve their ability.
* Newcomers wishing to master the basics.
What is the cost and what will I gain from attending?
The cost is £40 for ten practical sessions (nine training and one match). You will receive training from excellent coaches at great facilities, a comprehensive written assessment and the opportunity to fulfill your potential as a footballer.
I am an experienced player. is the Soccer Development Centre suitable for me?
Yes. Where numbers allow we will put experienced players together and ensure that the coaching pushes you as a player. Likewise, for players who are less experienced, training will target their needs.
What will we work on in training?
The four elements we feel are vital in making it as a professional footballer:
Technique - Insight - Personality - Speed
Who will my coach be?
All staff will be have an enhanced CRB (police record) check, a first aid qualification and will hold a minimum of the Level 2 FA Coaching Certificate. There will also be an involvement from Centre of Excellence staff to enhance the assessment procedure.
Can I play for my school and club during my time at the centre?
Yes. The only commitment we ask you to make is to do your best to attend training and matches.
How will my progress be assessed and communicated?
You will receive a written assessment and the opportunity to discuss this with your coach at the end of each term.
What happens if I do well?
If your coach feels you have shown the right levels of ability and attitude during or at the end of the term, you will be given the opportunity to progress to the Performance Centre/ Centre of Excellence. Players who display particular talent can be moved up through the programme after a few weeks, while the system also caters for those who wish to progress at a slower rate.
What is the performance centre?
The Performance Centre is the middle level fitting into our Talent Identification Programme. The top level is the Centre of Excellence, the entry level is the Soccer Development Centre.
By attending the soccer development centre am I guaranteed to get a chance at a higher level?
No. There is no guarantee of moving to a higher level. However, all players showing the required ability and attitude are guaranteed to be given this opportunity.
