Runners-up spot for Town youth team

An eight-match unbeaten run which has included six victories ensured the Hatters’ Under-18s finished runners-up in Youth Alliance Merit League 1, which ended at the weekend.

Saturday’s 2-0 win over Stevenage meant the Town youngsters claimed second spot in the table, and also meant Paul Driver’s finished second out 23 Category 3 sides in the South of England.

The Hatters’ youth coach told lutontown.co.uk: “It’s a fantastic achievement for such a young group of lads who have come up against far more experienced players in the past three months

“A number of our senior squad have spent the second half of the season out on work experience, meaning we have played our first year scholars and a number of our under-16s.

“At this stage of the season it is always important to plan for next season and those who have come in have contributed brilliantly.

“As well as the younger players, senior players Luke Trotman, Isaac Galliford and Daril Ngwala have helped the less experienced out tremendously and contributed massively to our success.”

Meanwhile the Hatters have offered goalkeeper Craig King and midfielder Galliford professional contracts for next season, and we’ll give you more on their futures once they sign on the dotted line.
