Young striker joins on loan

February’s Blue Square Bet South Player of the Month Alex Wall has become the first player to join the Town under new manager John Still.

Striker Wall arrives at Kenilworth Road on-loan until the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal from Maidenhead United.

One of the hottest properties outside of the Blue Square Bet Premier, 22-year-old Wall has been courted by several Football League clubs and has notched 13 league goals this season for the Magpies.

But it’s in recent weeks that the former Thatcham Town forward has been in red-hot form in front of goal with his efforts recognised by the monthly award revealed on Thursday.

Still has been a long-time admirer of the 6ft 3in striker, who will go straight into the Town squad that travels to face Stockport in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Wall will wear squad number 26.

The manager told lutontown.co.uk: "I had Alex on trial last year at Dagenham but he got injured. He went back to Maidenhead and has done well. I've always kept an eye on him.

"He's a young, ambitious, hungry player with great ability. Alex will need time and help, but he has terrific potential. I hope he'll go onto a enjoy a very good career at Luton Town.

"He's what you might call a centre-forward. He's not a 'striker' or a 'number 10', he's a centre-forward. He's a good striker of the ball, he's strong and he works hard.

"Alex is in good form, but the key for me is potential. He has the the potential to be a really, really good player."
