Emotional goalkeeper Mark Tyler hailed an “unbelievable” day as he helped the Town earn one of the greatest shocks in the FA Cup against the club he supported as a boy.
The 35-year-old stopper made two excellent saves either side of half-time and, for a player who was released by the Canaries as a teenager, it was a day to savour.
“It’s an unbelievable day,” said the Hatters’ number one. “This is where it all started for me. It’s where I wanted to be as a little boy playing football so to come back here and keep a clean sheet means the world to me and my family who were all here.
“The boys in front of me were brilliant to limit Norwich to two chances. We had a gameplan, they had a lot of possession but we were solid and they couldn’t break us down. We countered in the second half and the substitutes made an impact.
“We were quietly confident, we knew Norwich weren’t on the best of runs and I think we’re hard to play against and playing with confidence.”
Tyler was modest, however, when recalling his heroics to repel efforts from City strikers Simeon Jackson and Grant Holt, and believes the sensational result can be the springboard for a fairytale ending of the campaign.
“That’s just my job,” he said on the two stops. “I go about my business quietly but you’ve got to enjoy occasions like this. Emotionally it was is hard coming back and playing here. I think my family alone could have filled one of the stands.
“The result is massive for us but the main aim is to get out the league. Barrow next Saturday is our bread and butter but it’s been a good day. The gaffer is installing belief in us and it’s shown in the last two FA Cup ties.
“Hopefully this will be a good season for us.”
