Join the Hatters as they prepare for 2016-17

The Hatters have now completed their Pre-Season arrangements for 2016-17 and are pleased to be able to announce two home friendly fixtures against teams who recently lost out in the Football League Play-Offs.

Nathan Jones’ squad will come up against his former club as we welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Kenilworth Road on Saturday July 23rd with a 2.00pm kick-off. The Seagulls missed out on a Championship Play-Off Final place losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the Semi-Finals after being at the top of the Championship for much of last season. Chris Hughton’s men will be looking to go one better next season and will provide a good test for the Hatters’ first home game in Pre-Season.

Then on Saturday July 30th, Walsall return to Kenilworth Road following their 1-0 win here in Pre-Season last year, a match which was preceded by the announcement of Craig Mackail-Smith’s signing for the Club. Town will be hoping to avenge that defeat this summer against a team who lost out in the Semi-Finals of the League One Play-Offs recently.

In addition to these two home games – ticket details for which will be announced shortly – Town have arranged the following away Pre-Season fixtures:

Saturday 16th July  Bedford Town3.00pm
Tuesday 19th JulyBorehamwood7.45pm
Tuesday 26th July Woking7.45pm

In a departure from recent seasons, Nathan Jones will take his squad to Hungary for a Pre-Season training camp between Sunday July 3rd and Sunday July 10th.  The Club are seeking to arrange a fixture during the period in Hungary and as soon as there are confirmed details they will be shared with supporters.

Town Boss Nathan Jones is pleased with his plans for the new campaign:

"The trip to Hungary will be perfect, the temperatures there should be less stifling than in Portugal where the Club have been in recent seasons – this will allow the lads to work hard in more comfortable conditions.

"The facilities there look fantastic – it is the Hungarian equivalent of the FA’s St. George’s Park and we will be able to combine some core fitness work with plenty of ball work too and if we can find a fixture then that will allow the squad to have their first 45 minutes of match action.

"Once we get back to England the plan is that we can increase the intensity of training and matches as we head towards the big kick-off on August 6th.

"We want to arrive at the first league game fit and rearing to go and I think this Pre-Season schedule will enable us to do just that – I am really looking forward to it already".
