Boss on Lambs test

Being top of the league has its pressures but so does being down at the bottom.

The Town will – weather permitting – entertain Tamworth at Kenilworth Road on Saturday aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Skrill Premier but will face a Lambs side just as desperate for the points.

Dale Belford’s Tamworth side find themselves in the bottom four and, in recent weeks, the Lambs have won just four of their last 15 matches in all competitions. And two of those victories came in the FA Trophy.

John Still always says it’s tough for his Town side – no matter who they’re playing – but with Saturday’s visitors in need of the points, there is absolutely no thought of an easy three points.

“Like I say every week, it ain’t half going to be tough because you’re coming to the stage of the season now and most teams have something to play for,” said the boss at his Thursday press call.

“It’s that time of the year. If you look bottom half of the table most of them will need to win some games; and if you’re right down the bottom you’ve got to win lots of games.

“That makes it tough for us, and everybody, because you look above the teams at the bottom and you’ve got probably half a dozen club feeling they can get in the Play-Offs, so that gives it a competitive edge as well.”
