Boss eyeing good run in JPT

The Town take on Leyton Orient at Kenilworth Road tonight (ko 7.15pm) in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The Hatters lifted the trophy in 2009 with a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United at Wembley and boss John Still is hoping the class of 2015 can go all the way this time round.

“It's a great tournament and a realistic one for us to have a crack at having a run and getting to Wembley in,” said the boss. “We want to give it a really good shot and that's exactly what we will do.

“In all the games we have played we have either been in winning positions or had good performances and there's plenty of time to go.

“We are looking forward to the rest of the season and that includes the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.”

The boss began his professional career with the O’s, while defender Scott Cuthbert and goalkeeper coach Kevin Dearden joined the Town from the Brisbane Road outfit.

“I started playing at Leyton Orient in the youth set-up and made my Football League debut for them against Torquay,” said Still.

“You don't forget where you made your first League start and I look out for their result even now.

“As well as that connection, there are quite a few members of the coaching staff at the two clubs and some players who have worked with each other so it should be an exciting and interesting game.”

The Town boss could make changes for the visit of Orient, who have won all five of their games in League 2 this term.

However, JPT competition rules states a club must include in its starting line-up at least six out of the 11 players who started the club fixture immediately preceding or following the relevant JPT fixture – or six of 11 players who have made the most starting appearances this term.

Remember the kick-off for this match is at 7.15pm and should the game be all square after 90 minutes it will go straight to penalties.
