Defender reveals squad meeting after latest set-back

After slipping to 15th in League 2 after Saturday’s defeat to Bristol Rovers, the Town squad have met to discuss the way forward in a bid to turn around their fortunes.

Talking after Tuesday’s development squad draw with Leyton Orient defender Luke Wilkinson said: “We had a meeting on Monday. What was said remains behind closed doors, but we’ve had words with each other as it needs to be better.

“Everyone knows that, we know that, the fans know that, the staff know that, all of us have got to step up and try and push up the league now.

“It’s not a personal thing, we all want the same thing, we all want to be as high up in the league as we can, we all want to push for promotion.

“If it means you have to tell someone they’re not doing their job properly you’ve got to do it, whether it be me being told or me telling someone else, it doesn’t matter.”

The Hatters lie nine points off the Play-Off places but Wilkinson still believes a crack at the top seven is achievable with four months of the campaign remaining.

“We’ve got 20-odd games left, so there’s all to play for really,” said the 24-year-old. “It’s still quite a tight league, we can always fight our way back into it and hopefully be a late contender to maybe get in the Play-Offs, or even the top three.”
