Two-year deal for striker

The Hatters can confirm that striker Paul Benson has put pen to paper a two-year contract with the club following his release from Swindon Town.

The 34-year-old spent last season on-loan at Kenilworth Road from the League 1 side and scored 18 goals in 38 games as the Town stormed to the Conference title.

Benson has twice been promoted from League 2 – whilst with Dagenham & Redbridge and Swindon.

And the striker, who has netted over 130 goals in his career, believes the Town have what it takes to mount another promotion challenge.

“It’s good to finally get the contract sorted. I’m looking forward to an exciting season for me and the club,” Benson told lutontown.co.uk.

“I think we have the players here to really push on and challenge at the right end of the table.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have been promoted from League 2 a couple of times so I think I know what players are required to do it – and I think we have the quality here to do that.

“If we take the momentum from last season forward I really do think we have a real chance of going up again.”
