Month loan move to Mariners for Matt

Midfielder Matthew Robinson has joined National League promotion hopefuls Grimsby Town on a one-month loan.

The 21-year-old signed for the Hatters in the summer of 2012 following his release from the Leicester City academy.

He made his debut in a 2-0 away win at Kidderminster when coming on as a late substitute and he scored his first senior goal in a final-game-of-the-season win at Southport.

In 2013/14 Robinson helped the Hatters to the Conference title, playing 27 times and scoring two important goals, in victories over Chester and Grimsby.

Last season the midfielder was unfortunate to be sent-off in a 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury and, after falling down the pecking order in the Hatters side, he was loaned to Kidderminster where he played six times.

Town boss John Still told lutontown.co.uk:

“Matt is joining a good club with ambitions of promotion this season and I am positive he will be a big success on Humberside.”
