Boss hails performance after four-goal comeback

The Hatters’ Under-18s came from a goal down to record a comfortable 4-1 win over Leyton Orient with a performance that manager Paul Driver described as one of the best of the season.

The Town trailed when Orient took the lead on 25 minutes, but Daril Ngwala levelled matters a minute before half-time.

Driver sent on Osamu Allman and Luke Trotman 10 minutes onto the second half and within a minute of their introduction the Town went in front for the first time when Allman fed Isaac Galliford who made no mistake to make it 2-1.

Orient rallied in search of an equaliser, hitting the post in the process, but the young Hatters went further ahead on 72 minutes when Ngwala finished well by lobbing the advancing goalkeeper.

With the Town well in control Ngwala then turned provider three minutes from time when his free-kick was nodded home by Frankie Musonda to make it 4-1.

A happy Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “In the second half some of the football we played was the best we’ve played all season. It really was an excellent all-round performance.

“Orient are a good side which makes the result and performance even sweeter.”

The Town Under-18s play their last fixture in the South East Alliance on Saturday when they travel to Stevenage (kick-off 11am) before they enter the merit league for the rest of the season.
