Town snap up exciting attacker on a free

The Hatters are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Hall on an 18-month contract following his departure from Championship side Rotherham United.

The 27-year-old winger, who is also able to play effectively in any attacking position, has previously played under John Still whilst on-loan with Dagenham & Redbridge from Crystal Palace in 2008.

Hall began his career as a youngster at Arsenal and then Palace, but was restricted to just one League appearance with the Eagles. He left Selhurst Park and resurrected his career in non-league circles at Bromley.

After impressing at Bromley, Hall made the switch to League 2 Southend United in July 2010, and the winger made an instant impact at Roots Hall. He scored nine goals in his first season with the Shrimpers and then scored 11 times the in the following campaign – which also saw him create 25 goals – as Southend reached the Play-Offs.

His form with the Shrimpers was alerting the attention of other clubs and in October 2012 the attacker joined Championship Leeds United.

Ryan’s time at Elland Road saw him play just nine times and last season he spent time out on loan, including a spell at Sheffield United.

He left Leeds this summer and signed for their Yorkshire rivals Rotherham, and scored the winning goal in the Millers’ 1-0 win over Wolves in August.

Having joined Notts County on-loan in November, Hall made six appearances in League 1 for the Magpies before returning to Rotherham and negotiated his release.

He will wear squad number 27.

Reaction from Ryan and John Still to follow.

Welcome Ryan!
