Town snap up talented right-back

The Club are delighted to announce Curtley Williams as the first signing since winning promotion back to the Football League.

Williams, 24, joins the Hatters from Lowestoft Town and has penned a two-year contract, which will begin on 1st July.

Right-back Williams, who can also play at centre-half, came through the youth ranks at Ipswich Town before joining the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain.

Having impressed whilst at the former England manager’s set-up, he then tasted football in South Africa before returning to sign for Lowestoft in 2012/13.

The Trawlerboys missed out on promotion in the Play-Offs in his first season in Suffolk but the defender and his team-mates were celebrating earlier this month after beating AFC Hornchurch in the Ryman Premier League Play-Off final.

On Williams’ arrival, John Still told lutontown.co.uk: “We’ve watched Curtley extensively this season and we’ve all been very impressed.

“He is an ambitious man who comes under the ‘young and hungry’ bracket, and one we see having a bright future ahead of him.

“He likes to get forward, he has great energy and pace, and he is an ideal age. He’s not a kid, not a teenager that perhaps lacks that little bit of nous, but he’s got experienced and, mostly importantly, he’s a player who we see can improve and develop further.”

A full interview with Curtley will be on Hatters Player in the next 24 hours.
