Hatters hands contract to young striker

The Town have given promising striker Lee Angol a one-year contract and loaned the teenager to Boreham Wood for the whole of the forthcoming season.

The 19-year-old was most recently on the books at Wycombe Wanderers and has previously enjoyed time out on-loan at Hendon and Boreham Wood. He netted nine goals in 10 games for the Greens in 2012/13 and notched six goals in 17 matches for Wood last term.

A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, 6ft 2in Angol made four substitute appearances for Wycombe and made his debut in the Chairboys’ League Cup tie with Watford.

The pacey forward will form part of the development squad and be eligible to feature in the Town’s matches in the Final Third Development League when not on duty for Boreham Wood in the Conference South.

Manager John Still told lutontown.co.uk: “Lee is a youngster who we are giving a chance to because we feel he has some potential. We like him and his attitude. He’s definitely one for the future.

“He can play down the middle or out wide, he’s reasonably quick and has a great attitude.

“Loaning him to Boreham Wood – where he has done well before – will give him the opportunity to get more experience under his belt.

“At the same time, he’ll be training with us full-time and playing for the development squad, so we’ll be able to keep a close eye on his progress.”
