Stopper eyeing battle for number one spot
Town goalkeeper Elliot Justham has, just like the Hatters, come a long way in the past 18 months.
The 24-year-old stopper arrived at Kenilworth Road in the summer of 2013 with the Town in the Conference and Justham fresh from playing part-time with East Thurrock and working on the London Underground.
After a knee injury sidelined regular number one Mark Tyler in February, Justham has stepped up to the plate to deliver a number of fine performances despite the Town’s poor form.
And with Tyler returning to fitness, Justham is hoping he can keep hold of his place between the sticks.
"I want to battle with Mark. Hopefully, when he's fit, we can have a right good battle for the number one jersey, and hopefully I've given the gaffer a bit of thinking to do,” Justham told Hatters Player after Tuesday night’s goalless draw at Dagenham, in which he kept his third clean sheet in Town colours.
"Mark’s one of my best mates at the club, so he's been very supportive. He's always wanted me to do well and he backs me 100 per cent as well, as does the goalkeeper coach [Kevin Dearden], who has come in and been excellent."
