Luton Town confirm the loan signing of Jernade Meade from Swansea City

The Hatters have completed the loan signing of Luton-born Jernade Meade from Premier League Swansea City, subject to international clearance.

The 21-year-old former Arsenal man joins the Town for the rest of the season to bolster John Still’s options in defence and midfield.

A versatile, exciting left-sided player, Meade – a former pupil at Barnfield Academy – joined Arsenal as an 11 year-old and made his debut for the Gunners as a substitute in their 7-5 League Cup victory over Reading last season. Meade was then given his full debut by Arsene Wenger in the Champions League against Olympiacos a month later.

After his contract at the Emirates Stadium expired in the summer, League Cup winners Swansea snapped up the talented youngster and since his arrival in South Wales he has been a regular for the Swans’ Under-21 squad.

“He’s from Luton and that’s been a big pull,” Still told Hatters Player. “It’s an area he knows well and I think it will give him the chance to reproduce his best form.

“Sometimes in life you get the perfect fit, and I think that’s the case for Jernade and for us.”

Meade added: “It’s great to be back at Luton. The team are doing very well and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
