Late Walker winner gives Town dev squad victory

An injury-time winner from Charlie Walker gave the Hatters development squad their fifth win in seven league matches this season at the expense of Championship side Bournemouth on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hatters led thanks to Ross Lafayette's fine low strike from 20 yards shortly before half-time following good work from Matt Robinson.

But although the Cherries levelled midway through the second period, Walker won it in the dying moments when he latched onto Robinson's pass to beat the Bournemouth keeper and win it for the Hatters.

The game also saw Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu complete 45 minutes, while there were also 90 minutes for Alex Lacey, Robinson, Paul Connolly and Alex Wall.

Hatters coach Paul Driver told lutontown.co.uk: "It was an all-round good performance. The lads showed excellent application and professionalism. Matt Robinson was outstanding and Alex Lacey and Frankie Musonda formed a good partnership at centre-half.

"Charlie Walker played in several different positions throughout and his hard work was rewarded with the winning goal."

Town dev: Justham; Collins, Lacey, Musonda, Connolly; Ruddock (sub Ngwala 46), Robinson, C. Smith (sub Galliford 80); Walker, Lafayette (sub Maguraushe 80), Wall. Sub not used: Perry.
