Jack Sapsworth passed away last Saturday

All at Kenilworth Road were saddened to learn of the passing of Vice President Jack Sapsworth last Saturday morning after a long battle with illness, aged 75.

Jack’s family will be at tomorrow’s game against Plymouth Argyle as guests of the club, and our sympathy and thoughts are with them at this time.

A period of applause will take place before kick-off for all Hatters to show their respect for a man who although born in Glasgow, was Luton through and through.

He was a Town supporter since watching his first game in the 6-3 win over Arsenal on Boxing Day 1958, a sponsor since the setting up his glazing and decorating business in the 1970s, and a friendly face in the boardroom for the past two decades as a Vice President.

An obituary to the hugely popular local businessman and charity fundraiser – who was made an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2006 and was High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 2012 – will be in the programme for the Oxford match on Wednesday night.

His funeral will take place on Friday 10th March at St Mary’s Church in Luton, 11.30am.

The family have asked for family flowers only, with any donations made towards Keech Hospice via www.memorygiving.com (Nevilles Funeral Services, on behalf of Keech Hospice, search Jack Sapsworth) or on the day.

Rest in Peace, Jack.
