Luke Rooney’s early second half goal was enough to book the Hatters’ a third round FA Cup tie away to Cambridge United.

The midfielder, making his first start since early September, saw his cross from the left elude everyone in the box and nestle in the corner of the net.

In a game of few clear-cut chances the visitors came close to taking the tie to extra-time when Nathan Cameron headed straight at Mark Tyler deep into stoppage time when left unmarked in the Town six-yard box.
