easyjet Free Schools visit Project supported by The Football Conference Community Trust
Thanks to continued support from our main club sponsor easyjet and the Conference Community Trust our free schools visit project, which provides free curriculum time football coaching and pe lessons to all schools within Luton and Bedfordshire goes from strength to strength. Due to increased funding this season Luton Town FC community coaches are visiting 30 schools and coaching over 2,000 school children each week.
The Conference Community Trust was launched last season for member Clubs of the Blue Square Bet Premier and Blue Square Bet North and South and involves both the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association committing up to £400,000 each for the next two seasons and is designed to encourage member Clubs to develop their work in their local communities. Each member Club can apply for a maximum grant per season of £20,000.
Football Development Officer, James Hatch, who runs the easyjet free schools visit project on behalf of the the Club's Community Trust commented ' last season we had a great response from local schools who have asked us to come in and help with all kinds of requests from running lunch time clubs to coaching the schools football teams. This season with the extra funding we have been able to go into far more schools each week to promote the Club to the next generation of supporters. The funding is great because we can now get all of our local schools involved with the Club at no cost to them. We hope this project will not only help schools with providing quality pe lessons but also by getting the children involved with Luton Town FC provide future supporters of the Club. This year due to increased funding, schools can apply for breakfast , lunch-time and after schools clubs as well as curriculum time coaching.
For any schools looking to be involved in the project you can contact James Hatch or Kyle Durcan at the Club on 01582 583618 or via email on ltfc.freeschoolsvisitproject@hotmail.co.uk
